Sometimes we get to go to some really random locations to take photos. For this particular shoot for Texas Medicine magazine, we went to Space City, a rock climbing facility located in League City, Texas. We were there to shoot three medical students who were learning how to improvise while treating patients in extreme settings. We'd decided on this location during our editorial art meeting with the magazine staff for a couple of reasons - the students lived very close by to the facility, and they had already used it in the past during their training, so figuring out details with the facility was a breeze. We wanted shots of the students climbing, looking badass, hanging with one hand, etc. While we produced and art directed, Phil Kline took the photos, and Jennifer Curttright was responsible for hair and makeup. Take a look at the cover and some BTS pics below. Also, if you don't know why I (Torquil) almost crashed the car when I saw a street sign for Kobayashi Road, shame on you.
